IDEAs in Classical Music: A View From the Podium
Hosted by Timothy Muffitt, Artistic Director of Chautauqua Institution’s School of Music and Music Director the Baton Rouge (Louisiana) and Lansing (Michigan) Symphony Orchestras, this conversation will highlight perspectives on inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility from a conductor/music director’s point view. Muffitt will interview a panel of alumni from Chautauqua Institution’s David Effron Conducting Fellowship: Kazem Abdullah (2005), Yue Bao (2018), Andres Moran (2009), and Rebecca Tong (2017). The conversation will explore how these fellows have experienced both roadblocks and breakthroughs in their professional career, and how these translate into lessons learned that can be applied to move the classical music industry forward.
